Tula, formally called Tula de Allende, used to be the capital of one of the major civilizations of Mesoamerica -- the Toltecs. If you have time in your itinerary, visit the Tollan-Xicocotitlan archeological site and learn about the ancient culture and architecture by getting up close to the pyramids and palaces.
