adventure and romance Manzanillo

Manzanillo is a quiet beach town in the Mexican Pacific state of Colima. There’s two sides to it: the exciting, adventure destination and the peaceful, romantic paradise.

You can choose either one of them, or both! Whatever you do, you can be sure you’ll have a great time here.

Adventure in Manzanillo

If you like water sports, ecotourism, and adrenaline, there’s a lot to do in Manzanillo. Here are a few suggestions:

Surf. In Manzanillo, as well as nearby beaches like Boca de Pascuales, Santiago, La Boquita, and Olas Altas, the waves reach heights of more than 15 feet, which attracts surfers from all around the world. If you’ve never actually ridden a wave, you can ask for lessons in any one of the many surfing schools.

Paddle surf. Like any discipline, there’s a learning curve to paddle surf but, once you get used to the right posture and movements, it truly is one of the most fun water sports out there.

Scuba diving. Explore the inside of the Pacific Ocean and feel the excitement of breathing underwater. Whether you’re a noob or an expert, the diving schools and stores in Manzanillo have the right adventure for you.

Rancho Peña Blanca. Only 12 miles from the city’s airport and 6 miles from Manzanillo, it’s one of the most exciting experiences you can have here: speed through hills in an all terrain vehicle and enjoy spectacular views before arriving at a beautiful beach.

Romance in Manzanillo

Wild nature and amazing views of the Pacific make this charming town a favorite of honeymooners. Here are the best beaches for romance in Manzanillo:

San Pedrito. If you’re looking for an isolated beach where you can enjoy nature on your own, this is it. Located at the eastern side of Manzanillo Bay, it’s a lovely, quiet, little paradise!

El Viejo. Another peaceful, little known site where you won’t be bothered. Let its exuberant and abundant vegetation, strange rock formations, and exotic birds amaze you.

La Boquita. This is actually quite a popular spot, but it’s totally worth it. There’s a certain mystique to it, provided by more than twenty shipwrecks, stranded after a storm, many years ago. From here, you can rent a boat that will take you to beautiful sites like Roca de la Caguama, Roca del Elefante and Punta de los Frailes.

Santiago. Without a doubt, one of the best beaches in Manzanillo to just lay down, enjoy the sun and bathe in its calm waters. As a plus, there’s a lookout spot from where you can be witness to the best sunsets in town.
