Colegio de San Ildefonso

Take a step back and visit the place where Frida and Diego first met in 1922. She was a 16 years old, he was 36. She was studying high school in this building, and he was painting the mural titled La Creación (Creation) at the institute’s amphitheatre. 

The legendary artists exchanged their very first words in the hallways of what used to be a school and is now an impressive museum, full of murals and other works of art. You’ll find it a block away from the Zócalo, behind the Metropolitan Cathedral.

At the heart of the San Angel neighborhood, this house saw Frida mature and really flourish as an artist. She painted some of her most known and iconic pieces here, and he lived in the place until his death in 1957.
